Pesantren constitutes the oldest Islamic educational institution and functions as the center for Islamitation process and the reproduction of ulama in Indonesia. Any study on `ulama' and pesantren' will give raise to one categoritation of ulama, i.e. `ulama pesantren. This term may refer to the fact that pesantren and ulama are inseparable. Ulamas give birth to pesantrens and pesantrens give birth to ulamas. The article on educational institution As'atilyah Sengkang will throw some light on the 'ulama pesantren' categotitation. As'adiyah cannot be separated from its founder Kyai Haji Muhammad As'ad Al-Bugisiy (1907-1952).Downloads
